The Tesco Enjoy the Taste of Scotland…'Get to know your locals’ event is going to be fun-packed for all the family and here’s just some of the exciting events taking place over the weekend.

The venue – George Square in the heart of Glasgow - will be open on the following days and times:

Saturday 26th April 10am – 6pm
Sunday 27th April 10am – 5pm

Admission
Entrance is free of charge to the event with entry to the Tesco Celebrity Cookery Theatre available on a first-come first-served basis. Please note children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Tesco Kids’ Zone
A packed programme of fun and educational events will unfold throughout the weekend, including interactive food demonstrations where kids can learn all about local produce and the need to eat healthily in a fun and informative way. One of our event sponsors will demonstrate how food gets from ‘field to plate’ through a series of events and demonstrations whilst Daisy the Cow, Wiseman’s fullsize cow, will give children the chance to milk a cow.
There will also be a Craft Corner with food-themed games and quizzes and an exciting interactive game from event sponsor Quality Meat Scotland (QMS).

The Tesco Cookery Theatre
Visitors keen to share the secrets of the top chefs can get a stunning insight into the professional kitchen at the cookery theatre.

This star-studded line-up will lift the lid on their gastronomic secrets, whilst showcasing the potential of Scotland’s larder by creating several mouth watering dishes. Definitely not one to be missed.

Sporting Highlights
Footie-daft youngsters will flock to Kevin Keegan’s Soccer Circus, the world’s first fully interactive football attraction. These inclusive workshops will give a snapshot of the Braehead Arena-based facility and cover all elements of fitness, health and nutrition to help inspire children to get active and to provide nutritional education in a fun and engaging way. (please note that it is unlikely Kevin Keegan will be attending due to other commitments)

And for those with two left feet, Marshall’s pasta will be challenging visitors to “beat the clock” on their cycling simulator.

New Product Highlights
Scotland’s top producers will be using Tesco Enjoy the Taste of Scotland to launch some delicious new products.

Mull-based Island Bakery Organics plans to invite visitors to suggest names for a couple of new ‘mystery’ products on the day.

Lees of Scotland will showcase its new low calorie fat free treat, the Light Strawberry Meringue Bar, while the Golden Casket Group will be offering samples of its new strawberry yoghurt flavour Millions sweets.

Arbroath-based Mackays aim to tickle the tastebuds with a delicious new Scottish Strawberry preserve.

Farne Salmon and Trout’s new Tesco Summer Eating fish range, which includes onion, rosemary and herb salmon slices and sweet chilli salmon fillets, will also be on show.

Fraserburgh’s Nor-Sea Foods will also introduce new lines for summer 2008, including hot smoked mackerel fillets with a delicious piri-piri coating, kipper fillets with sun-dried tomato and basil butter and herring fillets with an oatmeal coating.

Baxters Food Group’s stand will be packed with its inspiring new range of dipping relish flavours, including crushed tomato and Italian pesto and spicy red onion with chopped coriander.

After all that food, take a refreshing stroll down Memory Lane with AG BARR when the firm highlights its new Barr’s ‘Originals’ range of traditional fizzy pop in four delicious flavours.

In addition, a mellow new afternoon tea called Highland Blend will tempt tea lovers at the Edinburgh Tea and Coffee Company stand.
